    Dear Parent or Guardian,

We were recently notified by the Licking County Health Department (LCHD) that an individual in your child’s building tested positive for COVID-19.  We are working closely with LCHD to identify any close contacts of the individual that tested positive.  LCHD will contact you if your child is identified as a close contact and place them into quarantine.

In schools where universal masking is not required as is the case with our school district, vaccinated individuals that are identified as a close contact of a person with COVID-19 should:

    • Not quarantine and remain in school and participate in extracurricular and sport activities as long as they have no symptoms.
    • Wear a mask indoors, as much as possible, either for 14 days or until they receive a negative viral (PCR or antigen) test performed 3-5 days after exposure.

In schools where universal masking is not required as is the case with our school district, unvaccinated individuals that consistently wear masks that are identified as a close contact of a person with COVID-19 should:

    • Not quarantine and remain in school and participate in extracurricular and sport activities as long as they have no symptoms.
    • Wear a mask indoors, as much as possible, either for 14 days or until 7days if they receive a negative viral (PCR or antigen) test performed at least 5 days after exposure.

Individuals that are identified as a close contact of a person with COVID-19 that are unvaccinated and that do not consistently wear a mask should:

    • Quarantine for 10 days after their last exposure to the individual that has COVID-19.
    • They should not attend in-person school or participate in sports or extracurricular activities.
    • They can return to normal classroom and extracurricular activities after 7 days if they have received a negative viral (PCR or antigen) test that was performed at least 5 days after exposure.

Our custodial staff has conducted the necessary cleaning and disinfecting procedures in the classroom and on other high touch surfaces at the school.

If anyone in your household develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19, they should isolate at home and contact their healthcare provider.  If anyone in your household is tested for COVID-19 they should stay home until the test results are received.  If your child tests positive for COVID-19 please contact us immediately at the school district office (740) 967-6846 and contact LCHD at 740-349-6535.

If you have any questions, please contact us at the school district office (740) 967-6846.  For more information regarding COVID-19 please visit LCHD’s website at https://www.lickingcohealth.org/COVID-19.html

Our staff will continue to work with LCHD regarding this situation, and we will implement their recommendations to control the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
