TRAFFIC PATTERN FOR STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP

Construction to the main entrance of the middle school is projected to be complete by the end of October. Until the main entrance is complete, students, staff, and visitors will enter through the doors by the media center. In order to provide for the safest and most orderly drop off and pick up of students to the Johnstown Middle School, drivers will need to adhere to the following traffic and parking directions during school days:

PLEASE ABIDE BY THE DIRECTIONS BELOW AND WATCH CAREFULLY FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE WALKING TO AND FROM SCHOOL.  JOHNSTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL IS LOCATED ON THE SAME CAMPUS AS JOHNSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL SO THERE ARE MANY STUDENTS WALKING AND DRIVING TO SCHOOL.

    DIRECTIONS

    Arrival and Dismissal (Williams Street)

Parents will come down Williams Street and line up in front of Searfoss Elementary. The buses will come down Oregon and line up in front of the Performing Arts Center to unload. Oregon Street is not to be used by car riders; only buses will use Oregon Street. Once students are dismissed from buses, parents will be directed to continue in front of the Performing Arts Center to drop off their students and exit onto Faye’s Freeway (the road that runs perpendicular with the middle school).

From State Route 37 (Main Street)

Cars will not be able to enter the middle school campus from either road off State Route 37 (Main Street). Faye’s Freeway will be a one-way street, only exiting the campus. Chambers Way, the road that runs beside the one-room schoolhouse, will be high school traffic only and flow through the middle school parking lot will be blocked.

    Parking

Parking for middle school visitors is located in the lot in front of Searfoss Elementary and the Performing Arts Center. There is additional parking in the gravel lot on the hill across from the Performing Arts Center. Parking directly in front of the middle school gymnasium will be blocked due to construction. The back two rows of parking in front of the gymnasium and the parking on the south side of the gymnasium is for high school students only.

    NOTE:

TO AVOID UNSAFE SITUATIONS AND UNNECESSARY TRAFFIC CONGESTION, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS TO ENTER OUR CAMPUS DURING ESTABLISHED STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP TIMES

    (7:10 AM – 7:20 AM AND 2:20 PM-2:30 PM).

Welcome

  •

    Mrs. Kris Almendinger, Principal

Welcome to Johnstown Middle School! The JMS Staff has been very busy this summer preparing for the 2018-2019 school year. Our newly renovated school will provide such a wonderful learning space for middle school students. Whether your child is returning to JMS or is a new student, we are eager to work and grow together. We challenge you to see the beginning of the school year as a fresh start, which includes setting new goals, making new friends, and developing new habits.

Academic, social, and emotional growth are all important at JMS; therefore, our focus is always on serving students holistically. Various learning styles, strengths, and challenges make it fundamental for us to get to know all students in order to serve through an individualized approach. Active participation and reflection is expected of our students and allows greater opportunities for success in the classroom. We also welcome and encourage a strong relationship between school and home. Your communication with teachers and your attendance at district events is critical to student success and allows your voice to be heard.

At Johnstown, Student Success is Everything! I am honored to serve the students and families of the Johnstown Community. All students have the potential to achieve great things here at JMS that will prepare them to develop their strengths and pursue their chosen paths.

Feel free to contact me at kalmendinger@jmk12.org or 740-967-8766 ext. 3300 to share your questions and concerns. I look forward to working with you.
