JIS Recycling CampaignJIS students are determined to help the planet by encouraging recycling within Johnstown-Monroe schools. With the support of Johnstown Intermediate School instructors Katie Shaffer and Holly Ruffle, the students met with Superintendent Dr. Philip H. Wagner, and the Director of Operations Derick Busenburg, in early February to discuss their goals of raising awareness within JIS and creating less waste. On March 10, the students delivered new recycling bins to the District offices within JIS.

Guest ReaderGuest reader, community member, and former educator and principal for 35 years in Johnstown, Mrs. Alice Main, visited on Oct. 28 and read to some of our 4th grade students. She focused on building background knowledge about autumn, the changes that occur within the season in Ohio, and details of Johnny Appleseed's trail that he followed.
